It was a pleasure to come back to the Eames Ranch nearly a year after our first visit to the inspiring property in October for a Airbnb event. This time with our friends at Levi’s where we delivered a beautiful dinner in the heart of a garden. The menu was inspired by a passage from Jack Kerouac’s On The Road (below). We took a modern approach to interpreting what Kerouac’s San Francisco food experience would be now.
To start things off we offered a completely edible planter box that was a nod to modern urban farming. Our second course was a modern approach to seasonal and local seafood. We paid tribute to the street art and graffiti scene with the ‘paint with your food’ course that was also completely edible. Outside Lands featured live coffee smoke from Trouble Coffee as well as Bison (don’t worry the bison in Golden Gate Park were spared for this course). Lastly Kerouac’s love affair with apple pie and irish coffee were brought to life in our last pairing. The entire meal was beautifully paired with wines from Scribe Sylvanner, Copain Tous Ensemble meaning “all together” and apropos for a outside farm dinner and Wilson & Wilson the new Napa Valley Cabernet start up, courtesy of Ted Wilson.
This event was absolutely beautiful to put together. Special thanks to Levi’s, Western Editions, Copain, Scribe & Wilson & Wilson wines, Zephyr Tents, Llisa Demetrios & the Eames Foundation.
